Oradour - A unique and thought provoking place to visit. To do it justice, you would need to allow at least a whole morning or afternoon in order to fully understand the tragic events that happened there on 10th June 1944. Lakes - For an action packed or relaxing day there is the beautiful Lac Saint Pardoux which is basically over 330 hectares of fresh water and 3 sandy beaches. There is plenty to do including many water sports, horse riding, cycling, tennis, petanque, children’s activity centres, and plenty of bars, restaurants, shops and arts & crafts. There are also many evening activities for all the family.
La Rochelle – A 2 hour drive, but well worth a visit. It is described as “one of the most attractive and unspoilt seaside town in France", particularly because of its wonderfully preserved old town and the harbour's fortress towers.
It also has the largest marina on the Atlantic coast and an impressive aquarium.
